Train with E6011
by: Dickey

i think 6010's burn too fast to train with if you have no idea what the initial (self)-confidence level might be of the trainee/student.

6011's burn slower and require a good bit of attention and relaxed control. Since the rods (at 3/32") tend to wiggle at the start of which-ever pass. Likewise, you have to keep your rod-angle and arc-lenth true to the mark; otherwise, after the bead, the slag is 'dusty' and the adjoining metals are spattered like hell.

Yet, with either or any stick-welding Exxxx
if you really want to weld, never give up; no matter what you have to work with.

I love me a 6010 root and hot pass on a 30 degree bevel 3/8" mild steel

WTF?!!
by: Damnit!!

We're running 6011 beads at school right now;I'd rather use a rusty piece of coathanger on a discarded "buzz'rd" from the early "30's than 6011's on a new Miller portable inverter (damn nice little machine)- Monday, I'll turn the Amps down -as far as possible- to run stringers- if that wont work out the "spatter and dirt" from the "hippy-rods" (6011's) I'll never weld with them again.
