7018 rod tip

If you dont have a rod oven, just put your 7018 rods in a toaster oven for a little while before you weld. This will dry out the rod, and make it hot, so it will weld easier.

I will stick my 7018 to a piece of plate and hold it until it's hot, 3-5 sticks, then break them off to use. Saves a lot of steps by the end of the day.

Thats a pretty good tip if you dont have a rod oven even if you have to run all the way to the kitchen from the garage but theres no reason to brag to your wife, girlfriend or mother about it.
