Jody,

I too took a Lincoln course and have nothing but rave reviews about it. I took the Basic Motorsports Course and can honestly say that you really get your money's worth. It's a basic course like the name implies and there is classroom time but that only amounts to about 5-10% of your time there. The rest is instruction on the machines and the processes that the instructor is teaching and then it's pretty much anything you want to work on from there. I attended in Oct of 2009 and the instructors were saying that Lincoln will be creating a state of the art welding training facility even though their's is pretty good right now. They go into the MIG, Tig, Plasma and Oxy/Acet cutting as well as really basic metallurgy. I can't stress enough that if you don't get your money's worth it's your own fault. The instructor will give you all the help you require and leave you alone if that's what you desire. You are even given a 4130 Cr-Moly welding test during the week and I'm sure it doesn't mean much but a certificate as well if you pass the test. Mines hanging on the wall of my office! If you get the chance, don't pass it up.
