Back purging
i want to tig weld aluminum bike frames and was wondering if i need to have shielding gas inside the tubes to protect the inside from contamination?

it will weld better with internal gas shielding but most authorities state it is not needed for aluminum. Of all the metals, aluminum is probably less sensitive to not shielding the back side of a weld with argon.
