I spent three years looking for a TIG/stick welder and finally settled on a Chinese unit from Riland usa. I like to repair my own equipment and they were the only company that gave me comprehensive test procedures and a schematic down to the parts level.

The units works well but the feel is not as polished as the US welders. A switch may stick and I have to hit it twice, the tig torch has burrs preventing the electrode from sliding down when the clamp is released, the foot pedal is not silky smooth, etc. but it welds nicely!

Unfortunately Riland seems to have disappeared. The domain name is up for sale and the phone is dead. This means I can not buy whole circuit boards if I want...but I can fix what I have with the data I received.

I hope this helps answer some questions

I just bought a Cobel tig200AC/DCP which works fine , but I still have not worked out what all the knobs and switches are for! It uses terminology which I am unfamiliar with! The instruction book is rubbish! Has anyone else out there ever come across one of these ! Ilive in Scotland.

American NEW
by: bill

My local sheet metal machine salesman told me the other day he got a flyer from a Chinese equipment distributor that makes a product called Tinknoker, which is supposed to compete with made in USA Tennsmith. The sales hook for there product was " IT WORKS AS GOOD AS A USED TENNSMITH ". Sounds to me like you should have bought a used made in the USA machine. I can still buy parts for my 40yr old hobart wire feed.
