read up on your history. NEW
by: Anonymous

The Chinese were not our enemies in ww2. But given that logic, you mean to tell me you've never owned a tool, a car or truck, or a TV made in Japan (who, incidentally, were our enemies in ww2)? To avoid outsourced or foreign made products in our current economy is almost damn near impossible. If you're going to bash the industrial output of an entire country, at least have the decency to base your judgment on its merits, or lack thereof. Overgeneralizing is pointless, especially when most of the products supposedly "made" in the usa are just assembled here with "global materials." Our people are basically assembling a puzzle with pieces made in China. Some for for thought.

Re: buy American????? NEW

Hell, if you're only welding high pressure carbon pipe, 2 car batteries, some jumper cables and a fistful of 6010 and 7018 will do the trick all day.

I think the larger point is that the biggest part of this technology was conceived and pioneered here ( the u.s.). R&D is not cheap, easy, or fast. It requires the best and the brightest teaming up with some seriously deep products to bring this stuff to market. Then it takes some clown with basic hand tools and internet access to rip it off. This is the basis of my personal beef with Chinese products. I don't have such issues with European products, as they were brought to market by hardworking people who paid the freight. I mean seriously, when is the last time you checked the news and saw a story about the Chinese developing some new technology, or making a scientific or medical breakthrough. They are thieves. And we reward them with our money like they are bringing us something great. Shame on us!

Ignorant fucks. NEW
by: Anonymous

Anyone who is a citizen of the USA and does not support buying goods made in the USA is an ignorant fuck. Giving away our manufacturing to communists and people that were our enemies in WW2 is the main reason out economy is shit and will continue to get worse. Your children will be working slave labor if they can work.

American or Chinese Who Cares!!!! NEW
by: srvcm

Ive read the posts bashing Chinese regarding their quality of welders and really don't understand why anyone would care. What it comes down to with welding is the skill of the person behind the machine. Ive seen a 21 year old kid lay down a bead as if he were magic... with a Longevity stick Welder. Then tig a motorcycle tank with a Everlast 200DX. He does the same with a Millermatic 210 welder on a BBQ grill. so the problem is not the welder, but the perception of the product. I personally feel American products have good customer service for repairs, but are only quality controlled Chinese/Japanese/Tiwainese products that have been "Assembled" in the United States. I believe that America is great because of the ability to manage a product to insure its quality, no matter who made the product. Remember that next time you make a call on your cellular phone that was assembled in China.

chinese welders NEW
by: Anonymous

the problem with made in china goods is there is no quality control what so ever. I'd wager a good percent 5-10% of their stuff doesn't even work the minute it rolls of the production. Products made in USA and Europe have much tighter quality control. Even though not all the parts are made in the same country the specs and quality control are much higher than stuff made in china. Chinese manuf. welders are made strictly with the highest profit margins in mind with no regard for quality. When miller or Lincoln have parts made in other countries the specs that they require are what makes all the difference.

Hey Matt! I'm happy I'm not the only person that's proud to be an Americn and makes an effort to support our own economy....I'll wave the flag with you and ignore the ones who only have concerns for themselves....Hopefully they will wake up while there is still a few things made in America for us to buy. In reply to the above comment re: capitalising "America".....
This guy is American by the look of it, so dont forget..........
He is thick. Probably an IQ of under 70.
I mean come on, he thinks american goods are "da bomb dude!!" and wont buy anything else......
What he dont realise is he might be buying something with an american name on the outside of it, but where and by whom were the component parts made??
Typical American. Thick, self righteous, idiotic a***hole.

Buy American????? NEW
by: Anonymous

Youd be wasting your money buying a Miller welder, they are shite.
For the best Tig welders on the market, you want a Kemmpi or Fronius.

Made in Europe, top end bit of kit, not a middle of the road bit of kit like a miller.

Before any of you think you know better, ive been Welding pipe (s/s, duplex, super duplex, carbon steel etc) to standards required for offshore pressure systems, nuclear reactors etc etc and also Aluminium (yes thats right aluminium not alloooominum lol) for aviation parts for over 35 years. I know what im talking about.

I know this is an american website, but you all need to get it into your heads that the manufacturing industry in your country doesnt churn out goods at a much better standard than China or Taiwan.

The whole "we're the best in the world!!" crap is pathetic.

LOL, tell that to your government! You mean no one told you that your country is in debt? Last time I checked it was by a couple of trillions to China (they have been buying your government bonds and all for years). Now you guys are screwed cause you actually don't have enough money, not enough to buy anything that isn't made in CHINA! LOL! Wait till China (who now has the largest standing army in the world) completes their aircraft carriers and end up having the largest navy in the world...

Open up your American made welder and see where ther parts come from. Even Victor toch company says assembiled in usa. Ask where the parts are made they will not tell you. Notice Tweco is not as cheap as some of ther other products it is still made here. I see in the future all of your welders will be made over seas. They just need to come up to our quality and then we all are in trouble.

buy american NEW
by: Nick

I bet you don't buy anything from China - ever been in a Walmart? Let's get realistic about buying American made items: not everything made in America is worth what you pay for it. Some of it is just as crappy as the stuff from anywhere else.

Oh, and if you love American made goods so much, you could have the decency to capitalize the name of the country.
