chinese made welding machines

When you take off the cover, you really have to wonder whey there is such a price difference between Millers Dyansty ,Lincolns invertec, and Chinese made counterparts.

A Miller Dynasty 200dx will cost you close to 4 thousand dollars by the time you add torch, foot pedal, flowmeter, ground clamp etc.

how can longevity, everlast, riland, giantech, and other chinese made tig welders offer combination units that tig, stick and plasma cut for a third the cost?

Is it all labor? Do miller and lincoln use chinese made components?

I would like to learn more about the Riland brand.

Can you get chinese made welders fixed when they break?

Mitech
by: Anonymous

I have a mitech combi tig AC/DC ,plasma and MMA unit.
The Unit works fine, it's the plasma torch that have given me the most grief.
The copper core in the plasma torch cable became detached, lots of arcing but no plasma flame.
One of the switch wires for the plasma torch broke.
All this stuff is easy to fix (soldering iron and crip tool) but it is a pain.

I originally made contact with Mitech when the plasma flame would not ignite. They diagnosed the fault via e-mails and pictures, advising how to test each part. Eventually told me it was the plasma torch. Took it apart and they were right, so i repaired it myself.

Generally i was impressed with the service considering they are on the other side of the world, took a week to diagnose problem due to time difference's. They were prepared to send new boards if required free of charge.
