EastWood 220 Tig

by Kevin
(North Kingstown, RI, USA)

Along with many others here, I have found it hard to part with $3k for an american machine. I ordered up an Eastwood 220 Tig. Originally, it was the older style Blue machines. Mine was dead on arrival. Eastwood stands behind their products 100%, with a no questions asked policy! I'm Pretty sure the Fed-Ex guy dropped the first one. Anyway, i got my 2nd newer style BLACK machine, hooked up my 220v, and it has been running excellent! I'm a welder by trade building Nuclear Submarines, and this machine welds as well as the miller tigs we use. It doesn't have as much adjustability as the more $ machines, but it welds 1/4" aluminum in a single pass no problem. I've had it for about 4 months now and am impressed so far. Excellent value based on $699 sale price.
Has anyone else used this machine?

eastwood 200 acdc tig NEW
by: Anonymous

I bought the eastwood 200 tig.I've been welding for 15 years with all the big american brands and this machine performed as well as any of them,at first. After a few times of use when using the pedal I could only get about 20 amps of an arc,it would work fine with the trigger set up. I emailed eastwood and told them I might have a defective pedal. I got an email back saying they would give the info to their tech department and a few days later a new pedal showed up.Unfortunately one of the connectors on the pedals power cord had a different type of plastic fitting.I emailed them again and they sent me another pedal with the right connector and told me to just keep the defective pedal &the one with the wrong connector.I sent the whole unit back a week ago(they took care of all the shipping costs)and my new machine will arrive today.Great customer service!Hopefully the new machine will have no problems, and if it doesn't I still have a year on the warranty.I've gotten back what I paid for it with side jobs so I'm very happy. My opinion is that if you know that you can make $ welding and don't have enough to go red or blue,or if your just learning and can't justify spending big $ get an eastwood and work your way up to another machine. They take care of you during the 3 yr warranty

Eastwood 200 tig, Plasma 60 combo NEW
by: Harrison Performance

I purchased the combo with both machines, shipped to Hawaii for an outstanding price. Even with the outrageous shipping it was still cheaper for the combo than a brand name machine. Quality is decent. The plasma cutter has some issues with the quality of the torch. Ive blistered some of the "non-replaceable" parts; however, I've exceeded the thickness rating for the plasma cutter, and I also believe its underrated. The 200 tig is a quality setup. It doesn't have some of the finite adjustments, or a pulse setting, but I'm not adept enough to realize a difference. It's good enough for who it's for. The only issue i have had with the welder is the torch getting hot. It comes with a torch comparable to the WP-17, which is only rated to 150A. It gets very hot, very quick. After watching the videos hosted on this site, I'm going to check the compatibility of a WP-26 and find myself a diffuser/stubby setup that is actually rated properly.

eastwood 200 tig NEW
by: monty

my first eastwood worked really well for 20mins then went crazy, would only 'fluctuate' bzzz, bzzz, bzzz. i called eastwood, their tech guy listened to it on the phone, said we'll send you another unit once we get this one back. they arranged pick-up paid for the freight both ways. i received the replacement in about a week. it works, so far, though not as good as the first one, the arc 'wanders' and it 'stutters' . i'm a noobie with tig and mig, so my 'tignerance' is in play here! eastwoods service , so far is EXCELLENT, i could probably have got a tig off the internet cheaper but i doubt i'd have the service. i got a 175mig at the same time with spoolgun, which i love! still trying to learn to produce less'seagull-crap' beads, your videos and advice is fantastic!
