When flux core welding especially for newbies like myself, do yourself a favor and buy a flux core nozzle so you can actually see the puddle or you can just take the nozzle off completely, but the flux core nozzle actually keeps your tips a little more free from spatter than without a nozzle. And dip in nozzle gel also, even though it's made from different material than gas nozzle usually it works fine.
