I am a current student at Wyotech at the West Sacramento, CA campus. I started in June of last year in the automotive core with a concentration in Street Rod & Custom Fabrication. I learned how to shape sheet metal by hand with basic tools, dollies, hammers, hammer forms, press brake & other various brakes. I even got some experience with the power hammer, shrinker/stretcher, english wheel, planishing hammer, and bead roller.
I learned how to MIG, TIG, & gas weld not only steel but aluminum as well.
After 9 months, I graduated. I continued to take classes, I graduated from Trim & Upholstery, then went on to Motorsports Chassis Fabrication,
graduated,
then continued with Light Duty Diesel with an anticipated graduation in a week. I have learned an awful lot & can build a car from the ground up.
I can work on gassers and diesels, and build the frame, body, suspension, drivetrain, & even the interior.
If automotive is what you want to do, then I recommend Wyotech. You get out of it what you put into it.
It is hard work but you soon build the confidence to work on anything.
