I gotta get in on this one & I totally agree!!!
by: Chris Johnson

I read this & I said the same thing!! Virtual welding is a great idea, don't get me wrong but I'm sorry there is no way I weld like that in real life! I am a student at Southwestern Illinois College & I also work in the welding lab, I am constantly welding. I weld with any & every process every week. I'm a jack of all but but a master of none! When it came to using that machine I was ticked because I know that my welds looking nothing like that. I had undercut everywhere, spatter from beginning to end, the bead looked like a drunk'n worm crawling down the piece of metal.
Personal I think they need to put 1 and only 1 machine into a intro to welding class & thats it. I talked to a friend of mine that has all the inside scoop of every welding company known to man & he told me that the price of that thing is so stinking high because of all the research & development they put into it. He also said that about the only people that are buying it is the military. A few extremely pricey schools are buying it but not many because of it's hard to justify that amount! In the end, it's cool but it pissed me off, hahahaha!
