I got shown this technique a while ago and find it easy to control on thin sheet and easily strong enough and it looks good.
Manual pulse technique.
Basically it is overlapping tacks while they are still molten. Each "Pulse", takes about a second.
Shoot your first tack, release the trigger, move, pull the trigger so you hit the edge of your initial tack,(Whilst still molten), release the trigger, move, pull the trigger so you hit the edge of your second tack, release the trigger, move.... Carry on till you've got your weld.
This works really well on welding sheetmetal with good penetration and very easy control of weld puddle size and heat input into the work piece.
