I am looking for a welder helper position in williamsport, signed up for the API 1104 class at Penn College to be starting on 3/19/11. I am hoping that this class offers the cert test, if so Im very confident that I will pass it. I would like to get on with someone as a helper so I can learn the ropes on the pipeline. I am able and willing to grind, pull leads, and work in all weather conditions. If anyone knows of a welder or a company that I could try please let me know.

Jim....sorry for the late return message. I was working as a welders helper for a company in Williamsport Pa. I am now redoing my bed, putting 4 built in boxes and hozzer pole inlets. It's no Bob King bed, but I built it.
Get at me on facebook.

Clinton Co by: Anonymous
Clinton Co here and the college is Penn College.....I dropped the L 200D (1400-1600 lbs) yesterday onto the truck. I'm gonna need 2" suspesion blocks at the very least. I did a search on ebay 70-90.00 but not sure about everything I will need. Input is more than welcome?!?!?!?!?!
The bed protector is made from 1/8 Aluminum diamond plate and 2 1/8 OD handrail. The diamond plate was a task in it’s self. I started to tack weld it into place. Not a good idea, this looked very bad. Warping aluminum looks very bad in the daylight. To eliminate this problem I welded bolting tabs to the hail rail and bent the diamond plate 1 ¼ inch at the bottom edge to add strength. Using a cut off wheel on a 4"grinder, I cut half way threw the diamond plate to allow a straight bend.
To do my TIG, I bought a Longevity 160 from Craigslist for $800.00. It came with all the consumables I needed minus the argon. Being on a budget Id rather have an American made product but, this did the trick. A “stick welder” with a TIG machine, I did struggle a lot (gas flow, tungsten stick out, tungsten size, filler rod size, nozzle size) but it looks good going 65 mph down the highway. (yes, I read the section about TIG for NOOBs).

Sweet looking bed by: Rob
Nice job on your bed. Where in Pa are you located? what college are you attending? I'm located in McKean County.
