Is Metal Core Wire the same as flux core wire.

yes there is a big difference.

metal core is more expensive but can by more productive in some cases.

metal core wire has fine metal particles inside vs flux and metal.

an analogy has been made to sawdust sprinkled over a fire as to how efficiently the metal particles melt.
