Stainless to carbon

I am wondering which code could be used to weld stainless 304 3/16" brackets to structural steel channel. I have a job that calls out 1/8" fillets using 309 filler. Vertical, and horizontal positions. Any input would be appreciated.

I believe there are provisions included in AWS D1.1 for this application.

if not, the structural welding code for stainless is AWS D1.6

to certify a welder for a simple fillet weld application like this usually only requires a simple break test using a similar joint.

for example a fillet weld tee joint done welding 304 to A36 steel plate in similar thicknesses and positions as the actual task could suffice as a test.
