Structual steel plate weld test?

On average how long should it take someone to learn how to weld using 7018 and be able to pass the 4g steel plate bend test?

I was an instructor for several years and one of our classes was a stick welding class with a 3g and 4g plate test as the cert test.

5 days a week, 8 hours a day, the average was about 4 weeks to pass both tests.

But most of the students had a little welding background...some started from scratch
