The Chinese don't have to pay for Labor Union retirements
by Practical Capitalist

As our unions drag us deeper and deeper into mediocrity, the Chinese are able to produce a welder that can compete with the US stuff (at least for the home hobbyist person that isn't running their welder 8 hours a day every day) for thousands less.
Considering that they pay a hefty importation tax, it makes me wonder why the price has to be so high on the US stuff.
I'd like to support a US business, and I do whenever possible. But to spend THOUSANDS of dollars for supposed robustness that I may or may not come close to requiring??? No way.
The Everlast PowerTig 250EX seems to have all the adjustability and higher rated output and duty cycle than comparable Miller/Lincoln. I say why not?
Compared to the Invertec 205 by Lincoln, it's a crime NOT to buy it.

you make a good point. I really like Miller but the price gap is hard to swallow.
