Tips for a better Restart.

by Adam Nickerson
(Maine)

When you have just stopped a bead, you have a crater. Say you stopped because you need a new electrode. You change the electrode then get ready to start your arc. When your arc is made, then weld onto the crater, but trace the crater, not just go over it. Doing this will give you a nice, flat weld where your crater was and if it is done right, it is hard to see that there was even a restart.
