6010 it is
by: Scotty O.

Try a 3/32" gap, a little over a dime landing and turning up your heat some. It also depends on the size electrode your using. I use 1/8" most of the time, but in some case's I have dropped down to a 3/32" rod. 6010's gonna leave some slag, but a good ole' wire wheel can take care of that. It take's some trial and error, but you WILL get it.

6010 is the way to go
by: Anthony F.

I have always rooted with 6010, even testing. Although some may use 6011 or others, I find 6010 seems to cool a little quicker and with less flux in the way. If it seems your not getting the penetration try opening the gap a bit, about 1/8th inch and turn up the heat, or try pushing the rod in a bit deeper. as for cleanliness, wire wheel is the way to go. cleaner doesnt always mean better.
