welding problems

by David Lambert
(flemingssburg kentucky)

i am welding steel pipe with 250 miller tig.

the weld is getting air bubbles in it i have adjusted my gas flow and it still does it ...whats my problem?

-------------------------------------------------

make sure your using the right filler rod.

sometimes people buy copper coated gas welding rod and try to tig with it...it has not deoxiders like silicon to prevent porosity.

what you need is ER70s2 or 3

if that is not it,

is the metal clean?

is your cup big enough?

have you tried using a gas lens?

porosity can be caused by lots of things, make sure your gas flow is high enough but not too high

once you get porosity, it wont usually go away just by welding over it...you have to grind it out.

thanks,

jody
