3G 1" PLATE SMAW

I WILL LIKE TO KNOW IF 1/8 OR 1/4 IS GOOD FOR COVER PASSES ON A
3G SMAW 11018 1" PLATE?

if allowed by the test facility, i would use 1/8

1/4 is a bit large to handle for vertical uphill
