what type of groove angle do i need for carbon steel 1 inch thick ?

This 1 inch thick unlimited thickness welding test is often done using 22.5 degree bevel on both plates.

sometimes its done with a 45 degree angle on one plate and none on the other.

there are other possibilities too, usually determined by the contractor or testing facility.
