when you are getting reaDY TO CAP WITH TIG,DO YOU TURN THE HEAT DOWN AT ALL.the pipe is already screaming hot.

If the pipe is that hot, i would let it cool a bit. Just let a fan blow on it for 5 minutes or so and it will make a big difference.
Sometime I try to rush jobs like this and it always seems to go better when i stop and let it cool before the cap
