can .035 solid wire filler be used to weld 1/2 plate and still pass aws code?

IT is possible. the problem lies with AWS codes requiring a qualified procedure for short circuit mig. also known in the code books as gmaw-s


For other processes like stick and flux core, you can purchase pre qualified procedures.

But for bare wire mig done with short circuit transfer, its up to the contractor to qualify .
