Is it better to tig or mig weld the bottom of a fuel tank

Hi jody, great site.
I removed an old gas tank, that had plenty of crud, I cut out the bottom, and plan to weld a replacement bottom. I have a miller mig, and wondered if it would be better to tig weld as opposed to mig weld the tank, to avoid leaks?
Tig is usually better when it comes to leaks.
