Line Porosity

While welding on 3/8 A-36 3G using NR 233 Flux Core Wire we were noticing every so often, small tracks on top of the weldment with occasional porosity. We know it is line porosity but what may cause it and how to prevent it?

lowering the voltage slightly sometimes helps.
sometimes increasing the stickout helps too
this is a common problem with fcaw
