root pass spray arc

weld seems to bridge to sides instead of penetrating down to root. welding 3/8 ss plate beveled to knife point no root opening.

up to 3/32, grind 3/32 lands, you should get a nice root pass. Knife edge will hold porosity, won't fuse as cleanly- arc should touch edges, otherwise it will land above the root.
