silicone bronze welding

by SAKKIE
(SOUTH-AFRICA)

good day Jody.my question to you is,when welding on electro galvanised material,1.0 or 1.2 and 1.6mm thick, with mig or tig weld applications, what gas is the best to use.At this moment I am using argon for tig and cougar 82/18 for mig welding.Do you recommend any other gasses.I use silicone bronze filler wire for both applications.Thank you.

Sakkie,

why the 82/18 on mig? is that a common gas for migging with silbro in south africa?

straight argon is what is called for in the books.

All i have used is straight argon for migging silbro on galvanized.
