Stainless Warp

by Randy
(LA,Calif)

I always seem to have a problem with stainless sheet metal warping when I weld it. It appears that many other people do not have that problem (or so it seems).

What am I doing wrong. (I am using the syncrowave)

Thanks

Stainless just warps some no matter what.

a few ways to minimize warping are:

get in and get out as quickly as possible...you should be traveling within 3 seconds of the arc starting.

use chill bars if you can

use a small gap if you can

back step weld in short steps

Oh, I see. I was actually prepared for the revealing of a trade secret that would cure my ignorance and warping problems. Thanks for the sage advise. I'll do as you have described. ThankYou
