STICK WELDING CARBON STEEL 11GA LAP JOINT DOWNHILL 6011 1/8"

Why 6011 instead of 6010?

Because 6011 burns very similar to 6010 but also will usually run on an inverter welder where 6010 requires certain machines to keep the arc going.

So I can take 6011 with me on a portable job where I might need to repair a hinge, or weld a bracket and I know it will work uphill or downhill.

WELD PROCESS = SMAW, SHIELDED METAL ARC WELDING, STICK WELDING

METAL TYPE = CARBON STEEL

THICKNESS = 11GA

WELD TYPE = FILLET

JOINT TYPE = LAP

POSITION = 3F VERTICAL DOWNHILL

AMPS = 115-120 AMPS

POLARITY = AC

ELECTRODE = 6011 1/8"

ADDITIONAL SETTINGS =

TIPS: DIFFERENT MANUFACTURERS ELECTRODES REQUIRE SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT AMPERAGE SETTINGS.ANY SUCCESSFUL DEMONSTRATION DISPLAYING AMPERAGE SHOULD GET YOU IN THE BALL PARK.TWEAK AMPS FROM THAT POINT AND ADJUST ARC CONTROL TO FIT THE SITUATION

Like 6010, 6011 rods have a pretty aggressive arc so they burn thru rust and paint and galvanized coatings better than most other rods.

Wear your respirator when you weld galvanized metal
