Weld two drill rods together

I need to weld to drill rods together .06" diameter, what is the best way to do this?

drill rods will be hard and brittle if welded without extensive preheat and post weld heat treatment and its not practical for most applications.

is it possible to use a sleeve coupling and silver braze?

if this is a high volume job, then it is possible that a benchtop pulse yag laser welder might work.

it just depend on the application.
