1g plate gap

hi, what size gap (A see attached) should be between the test plates we will be using 1mm (.045) solid wire. plates will be 12mm (.5)

IF the test is going to be done to a welding code or standard, you should check that code to make sure your gap complies no matter what ...

but For my preferences, a gap of between 2mm and 3mm will do it. you can also make some adjustments on the land (dimension B). less land usually increases the penetration reinforcement. More land allows using more amperage, But usually means less root reinforcement...and too large a land makes difficult to get root reinforcement.

you will probably find that the larger the gap, the larger the land..and the smaller the gap the smaller dim B should be.
