Minimum TIG passes on stainless pipe?

Is there a set minimum number of tig passes required on schedule 80 pipe 1'' - 6''?

In my experience, there is no minimum. It takes what it takes. however, sometimes there is a written welding procedure specification (wps) to follow that limits heat input or travel speed and that might dictate how much metal is deposited per pass.


Also, the position the pipe joint is welded can influence the number of passes.
