This was my very first welding test and I failed it.

6010 3/32" root pass can be tricky.  It seems like you are either too cold or too hot.

WELD PROCESS = SMAW, SHIELDED METAL ARC WELDING, STICK WELDING

METAL TYPE = CARBON STEEL 2 INCH SCHED 80 PIPE

THICKNESS = .218" WALL THICKNESS

WELD TYPE = GROOVE

JOINT TYPE = BUTT

POSITION = 6G PIPE TEST uphill

AMPS = 65-70 AMPS

POLARITY = DCEP

ELECTRODE = 6010 3/32"

ADDITIONAL SETTINGS =  

TIPS: DIFFERENT MANUFACTURERS ELECTRODES REQUIRE SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT AMPERAGE SETTINGS.ANY SUCCESSFUL DEMONSTRATION DISPLAYING AMPERAGE SHOULD GET YOU IN THE BALL PARK.

TWEAK AMPS FROM THAT POINT AND ADJUST ARC CONTROL TO FIT THE SITUATION
