check out the one page plan for tig welding aluminum
Simplified TIG settings using a Prime Welder aka PrimeWeld TIG225x
In my opinion, the primeweld 225 is one of the best choices in affordable tig welders.
The problem with most other really affordable tig welders is usually the foot pedal and the torch are just bad and clunky.
Primeweld went to extra expense to include genuine ck torches with superflex hoses along with a smooth SSC style foot pedal.
They also have a responsive primeweld equipment users group on facebook and also have demonstrated great customer support
Watch some primeweld videos and you will see what I mean.

The problem with most other really affordable tig welders is usually a really cheap foot pedal and TIG torch. Primeweld went to extra expense to include a genuine CK17 torch with superflex hose along with a very smooth SSC style foot pedal.
A high quality CK dinse adapter is also included so that you can easily swap out a tig torch or cable when the time comes.

WELD PROCESS = TIG, GTAW, GAS TUNGSTEN ARC WELDING
METAL TYPE = ALUMINUM 6061 .120”
THICKNESS = .120"
WELD TYPE = BEAD ON PLATE TO DEMONSTRATE AC BALANCE SETTINGS
JOINT TYPE = BEAD ON PLATE
POSITION = FLAT
AMPERAGE = 140 CONTROLLED WITH FOOT PEDAL
TUNGSTEN = 2% LANTHANATED, 3/32"
FILLER WIRE = 3/32” 4043
POLARITY = AC 100 HZ
GAS FLOW = 15-20 CFH argon
CUP SIZE = 5
ADDITIONAL SETTINGS = AC BALANCE SETTINGS OF 90, 80, 70, AND 60% EN SHOW LEVEL OF CLEANING ACTION
PRE FLOW = .2 SEC
POST FLOW = 10 SEC
TIPS: AC BALANCE ALLOWS SETTING THE LEVEL OF CLEANING ACTION.
MACHINES DIFFER SO AND SO DOES THE LEVEL OF OXIDATION ON ALUMINUM. SET AC BALANCE TO WHERE THERE IS A VISIBLE ETCH LINE AT THE TOES AND TO WHERE THERE ARE NO BLACK DOTS IN THE PUDDLE.
KEEP A FAIRLY TIGHT ARC AND WATCH TORCH ANGLE
Aim for an arc length that is equal or less than the diameter of your tungsten electrode.Torch angle can be forgiving provided your arc length is tight.
