An edge bead is sometimes used to restore dimensions to a part that has worn or was mis machined.
Sometimes multiple beads are needed to achieve final dimensions
Edge beads typically take a lot less amperage than any other weld...often only about 20-50% of what it would take for a fillet weld on same thickness ( depending on metal type)
